 1. Zarrouk’s Medium (Laboratory Standard)

 Critical Preparation Tips

 Dissolution Strategy: Always dissolve your **Sodium Bicarbonate** first. It acts as the primary buffer. If you try to dissolve the other minerals in acidic water, the pH may fluctuate unexpectedly.

 The Iron Factor: Iron is often the limiting factor for growth. It must be in a bioavailable form. If you are not using EDTA (a chelating agent), ensure your iron source is very finely ground and thoroughly mixed, or it may precipitate out of the solution at the high pH required for *Spirulina*.

 Water Source:  As mentioned previously, ensure your water is strictly free of chlorine. Using deionized water is preferred if you are preparing your own concentrated stocks to ensure you are not adding unknown minerals from tap or well water that could interfere with the delicate mineral balance. You can also use RO water which is pre sterilized with UV filter.

Spirulina Culture received but seems to be spoiled.

This is one of the problems during shipping of Spirulina culture. Due to non availability of light, temperature above 35° centigrade the culture changes its colour.

 Especially during summer hot temperature may Spirulina during transit. We at Ropecrafts biotech use special thermal Packing to protect from temperature with integrated LED system.


High temperatures pose a challenge to culture. In our lab experiments we observed that spirulina can rejuvenate again after complete crash due to high temperatures or complete absence of light. This is a survival behaviour which is observed in Spirulina. Sometimes we need to be patient and wait to see that happen. Usually it takes 5 to 20 days. 

We also provide free culture in case the culture crashes with in 20 days.

In some situations we do provide complete refund. We believe that the customer satisfaction is important. Customer should be protected.

  If the Spirulina culture is received in above state, a simple solution. Transfer the culture into a clean glass jar. Close the jar with lid and place in diffused light for 10 days. The culture will restore to its healthy condition. Do not touch the culture with any objects as it may introduce other microbes. 

 Shipping Spirulina in couriers have some limitations. 

Courier companies does not allow shipping of liquid material due to risk of spillage.

Courier companies do not use temperature controlled logistics for normal packages.

We have to use special shipping to deliver the product in good shape. Sometimes it becomes too expensive for us when we transport in temperature controlled logistics.

Note:- when Spirulina is in quantity of 1 to 5 litre, it should maintained  with care. Especially it should not be kept in direct light

When the culture quantity is above 50 l, the culture becomes strong and  can with stand direct sunlight, temperature fluctuations.
